Try, try, try

This week officially marks the start of the Intramurals. Everyone’s filled with excitement and a hint of anxiousness as all of us students will be competing with each other for different awards and trophies. As for me though, you could say I wasn’t much worried but I wasn’t exactly chill either. The start of an event meant that the school publication would be active again and I totally did not expect that for the whole week, I’ll be capturing each moment happening. It was fun though, that I was able to capture the smiles and efforts of the players and audiences as we enjoyed this week’s event.

I’ll have to admit though, it was quite tiring. I had to go up and down, take pictures here and there. Not to mention, when Wednesday arrived, I was multitasking! I had to take pictures for the amazing race while I also helped the team solve the riddles and obstacles. Nevertheless, I had fun. The intrams was an opportunity for me to mingle with other people outside of my crowd, especially with the older year levels, which I am grateful for because I was able to form friendships that I did not expect.

Yet again, it was tiring especially that I still had to stay at school even after intrams because we were all managing the posts and news for Ignite. I was actually quite disappointed with myself because of the pictures I took during the Basketball games. I knew that my photography skills were average but really, I wanted to do better for the page. Thankfully, Kuya Curt was there to guide me during the final game of Basketball. He was able to motivate me and cheer me up because he said I was doing well, and he meant it because the pictures I took got posted.

Just like any other event, all things must come to an end. Friday was the most enjoyable day for me. While it is sad because the intrams officially come to an end, we still feel enthusiastic as our team, the Yellow Kings, were crowned as the overall champion of the Intramurals. We also bagged special awards. After the event, I got to bond with some of my teachers and my friends as we treated ourselves outside.

This week seemed eventful but really, for me? It was just another cycle of learning something. In the midst of the euphoric feeling, I doubted myself whether I was doing my responsibility as a team mate and as a lamplighter (Ignite Staff) just well. But after a long week, I just told myself that at least I tried. And because I tried, I was able to create memories that I could cherish for a lifetime. The Intrams taught me how it was okay to try and it was okay that you at least tried, despite the difficulties.
